If you are struggling in any area of your life whether it be at home, work, or with your health, you might need to learn how to become the best version on yourself.
Who you are now vs. Who you could be
When you think about who you are and who you would like to be, what differences do you notice? A simple exercise everyone can do to find out who their best version of themselves is to take out a pen and a piece of paper and make a list.
Ask yourself these questions:
What time would the best version of myself wake up every morning?
How does the best version of myself take care of my body?
What does the best version of myself think when I look in a mirror?
What does the best version of myself think about my career?
What does the best version of myself eat every day?
Does the best version of myself exercise? Is it easier for the best version of myself to exercise and eat healthy?
What do the best version of myself’s relationships look like?
Is the best version of myself happy with the way my life has gone?
What would the best version of myself do differently?
You can keep going on with similar questions until you have a clear image of who the best version of yourself is. Read over this list multiple times so that these ideas stick with you every single day. If you need to fold that paper up and carry it in your pocket for daily reminders of who you are trying to become, feel free to do so.
You can also meditate on the list and envision you stepping into the best version of yourself. Picture the “old you” being washed away, and walk forward in the light of the “new you.”
Now anytime you are faced with a decision, make that decision from the best version of yourself’s point of view. What would they decide to do right then and there?
Then, show up as that person.
This idea of there being a better version of you is actually nonsense. You are already that version of you, you just have not been showing up as them. Until now.
It might be lack of motivation holding you back from being the best you possible. However, using this method can be the boost that you need to spring you forward so you can improve every area of your life.
You are done living in the past and ready to make the necessary changes to create a better future. The “old you” and the “new you” are just illusions. There is only right now and the decisions laid out in front of you.
It is your choice. Your choices alone make up who you are.
